Thank you for your interest in the World Tang Soo Do Association Scholarship Awards. Enclosed you will find the information to the application packets that you must complete and return in order to be evaluated by the selection committee.

WTSDA Grandmaster’s Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee of the World Tang Soo Do Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Grandmaster Scholarship to support its members seeking to advance their post secondary education or professional training beyond high school.

WTSDA members in good standing, who train at a certified studio located in the USA, are invited to apply for one of the five Grandmaster Scholarships of $7,500. Completed applications are due July 15, 2024.

Make certain that you meet and include all the requirements on the checklist, as incomplete applications will not be eligible for consideration.

The deadline for consideration is October 1, 2024. The completed packet must be received by this date for your application to be considered. Please be advised that if you are chosen to receive this honor, you may be required to attend a suitable public event for a ceremonial presentation.

Region 20 Scholarship General Requirements


  1. All applicants must be currently enrolled in a certified World Tang Soo Do Association Region 20 studio 

  2. All applicants must be current members, in good standing, of the World Tang Soo Do Association. All WTSDA membership dues must be current. 

  3. All applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of training at a World Tang Soo Do Association registered studio. 

  4. Students may only apply to the Region in which they have completed their most recent year of training. 

  5. The scholarship awards are open to full time students in their senior year of high school, full time students currently attending a college or university, and students pursuing an advanced degree (graduate or doctorate degree). 

  6. All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. 

  7. All applicants must submit their most recent official high school or college transcript, no photo copies please. 

  8. All applicants must submit written verification of their SAT or ACT Scores. Graduate students should submit their GRE or LSAT test results. 

  9. All applicants must submit 3 recommendation forms, one from each of the following areas:

    1) Instructor’s recommendation from their WTSDA instructor

    2) Academic recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or advisor.

    3) Personal recommendation from a non-family member.  

  10. All applicants must submit a minimum 500 word essay entitled "How Tang Soo Do Has Made a Difference in My Life". 

  11. All applicants must submit a separate letter describing their educational goals. 

  12. All completed applications must be received in a single packet by the designated deadline. 

  13. It is the applicant's responsibility to meet all application requirements. Incomplete applications will be ineligible for consideration.

  • Anyone that is a high school senior or enrolled in college/graduate programs.

  • All ranks are welcome to apply! As long as you meet the other requirements.

  • The application is due October 1st 2024

  • The amount received varies depending on donations we receive during the year.
